Print Design for Textiles and Wallpaper
Project type
Print Design
I'm a self taught print designer, and have learned many new techniques and strategies from online courses and from the University of Missouri.
My favorite prints are tartans, chinoiserie, heritage style, nature inspired, and anything dark and moody. I'm also a big fan of the dark academia aesthetic.
I designed a print "Hotleaf" which is a camouflage pattern with hot pink leaves. Hotleaf was a successful print and I created a brand centered on the design. I also licensed my print to several brands such as Honeywell Inc. for Muck Boots, Ariat International, Cashel, TWN Industries, Drysdale's, Trenditions, Angel Ranch, 3D Belt Company, and more. It was very popular in the western wear industry from 2011-2015 and was in national retailers such as Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sportsman's Warehouse, Cavender's, PFI Western, Mack's Prairie Wings, every local western boutique, and more. Hotleaf has been my most successful print so far.
I've designed a new tartan, and was registered with the Scottish Registry of Tartan. This is a huge honor and accomplishment for me, and is my favorite design project so far. It started as a design entry for the University of Missouri's College of Arts and Science new tartan. My design was selected among the top 4 designs, and although I did not win the competition, I'm honored to have been selected as a nominee. I changed the name, wove my tartan on a hand loom, and registered it with the Scottish Registry of Tartan.
I have various print designs available in my Spoonflower shop, some of which have been purchased as wallpaper and linen fabrics.
